The expert survey allows to garner the political positions of Canadian federal and provincial parties. It innovates in two ways. Firstly, besides positioning parties on ideological dimensions and on specific issues, the survey also positions parties regarding the representation of specific social groups’ interests. Secondly, traditionally expert surveys rely on scholars, we contribute to the design of expert surveys by also collecting responses from political media people (political journalists and political commentators); this addition not only allows to increase the number of respondents, but it also permits for a refined inter-regional perspective of the political landscape in Canada.
